The new app icon for shortcuts.

Apple’s shortcuts are a big surprise for people just like me who are just discovering the app! It blew me out of the water when I heard Apple was letting you basically letting you make your own apps!

Apple’s new shortcuts app allows you to do things with Siri. Not just the out of the box things like “Check the weather” Or “Call John Doe” Instead. You can ask things like “Hey Siri. Activate Super Low Battery mode.” Now, Let’s get into the things you came for. like what it can do, and how to make things in it.

What are Apple Shortcuts?

Apple shortcuts are usually something that looks a bit like this on the outside,

Looks simple right

And a bit like this on the inside.

It doesn’t look too complicated. Just know more of the shortcuts have a lot more actions.

A shortcut can be something as simple as scanning a QR code, to encoding and decoding secret messages in Base64! What I’m trying to say is that Shortcuts can be for novices and masters alike. A simple novice can play a game in a shortcut, but a master can make a game in a shortcut,

Once again. Back to that “blew me out of the water thing”

This apple shortcuts app is really astounding! Now you get to learn how to use it!

How to make an apple shortcut

The first thing is pretty simple, You’re gonna need the shortcuts app, You can get it by clicking on this text.

Next. Open up the app once it’s finished downloading. Go through any menus it needs you to go through, and then choose Create Shortcut, It looks like this.

Next, tap Add Action, Now. we will create a simple shortcut that sends a notification to your phone, To do this, search Show Notification in the search bar, Then, tap on Show Notification. After you did that, It should look like this.

Now. in the corner, click Next, Then, Input a name for your shortcut here.

After you name your shortcut, Click done.

Congrats! You have made a shortcut! Click on the shortcut’s name to run it. If you get a notification from shortcuts saying “Hello World” It worked! Well. You learned how to make your own shortcut! My job here is done.

Keep exploring different kinds of shortcuts in apple’s shortcuts app! Anyway, I must go now.

Bye-bye!
